Welcome to the Quechua Course!

This site provides a series of materials from the basic to intermediate levels for the Quechua language, the most widely spoken indigenous language in Peru and in America in general. We invite you to begin this journey and learn more about the Cusco Collao variant. The team is made up of professors and graduate students at the University of Texas at Austin, as well as residents from the Puca Puca and Quehuar communities who are working together to develop relevant course materials.
This is the first online course from the University of Texas at Austin that offers a range of units in Quechua that promotes a dynamic learning process through multimedia tools such as audio, video, and graphics. Our purpose is to develop students' oral fluency, as well as grammatical understanding and reading abilities. The course is based on the Quechua variety spoken in Puca Puca (a community located in the Apurímac region bordering the Cusco region) and in Quehuar (located in the Cusco region).
The pedagogical resource is directed towards students interesting in developing their linguistic abilities, as well as native speakers instructors in bilingual school in Southern Peru and countries such as Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Argentina.
